Missing Angel
You came to us one September morn;
We seemed to know an angel was born;
Love was known from then on;
And now our beautiful angel is gone.

You won the hearts of an entire town;
You replaced with a smile, every frown;
They all loved you and you loved them;
It's hard to bear they'll not see you again.

Twenty-two months we had you here;
Never in an eye was there a tear;
You brought love, and you brought joy;
To every man, woman, girl, and boy.

Everyone who knew you they knew love;
From an angel who now rests above;
You comforted every broken heart;
You gave meaning and a new start.

Then one afternoon came death's reign;
Riding on a northbound train;
To strike you down, take you way;
Our angel killed on a black Saturday.

Our beautiful angel, our lives to enhance;
But against death you had no chance;
Big business was the name of the game;
Those who knew you paid its claim.

A train which had time to save;
Was the reason your life you gave;
Your family and friends to pay the bill;
In a hundred years we'll miss you still.

Our little angel, a gift from God;
Taken from us without blink or nod;
By ruthless business of which we know not;
Except for the missing angel we've got.

The stories it could tell
The tree stretches its limbs toward the sky;
Majestic in all his glory;
If it could tell of times gone by;
Oh goodness what a story!

It would tell of everything it could see;
From its perch up in the air;
It would tell stories of you and me;
Of frolicking children and worldly care.

It would tell of seeing things change;
It would tell of people growing old;
It would tell of things odd and strange;
Oh the stories that would be told.

It would remember generations past;
The ones we never knew;
We would know history at last;
From a historian tried and true.

Oh the stories a tree would tell;
If it could tell them at all;
But it will keep it secrets in its shell;
As it continues growing tall.

To My Wife

God has given me many gifts;
But none as precious as you;
You’re always on my mind;
You’re part of everything I do.

Nobody could ever take your place;
No matter how hard they tried;
With you I want to spend my life;
I want you always by my side.

Together we can take on the world;
There’s no battle we can’t win;
On the basis of our love;
We’ll overcome again and again.

Many times I’ve counted my lucky stars;
To have you as my wife;
One promise that I’ll make to you;
Is that I’ll love you the rest of my life.
